Education
Because chemical immunology is a novel field of research, important emphasis within ICI is aimed at training of the next generation of young scientists at the intersection of chemistry and immunology that will be able to take full advantage of the expertise available in both these research fields. Therefore the ICI employs PhD students on the majority of the research projects and provides these PhD students with an interuniversity chemical-immunology PhD program.
All PhD students enrolled in ICI will receive a 4-year programme in translational skills, "From Student to Professional". The programme consists of the following modules:
- Module 1: Personal effectiveness: time and project management (1st year)
- Module 2: Communication in science (2nd year)
- Module 3: Personal Leadership (3rd year)
- Module 4: A PhD, what next? (4th year)
In addition, all PhD students are enrolled in suitable local PhD programmes and are offered a variety of chemical and immunological courses at the partner institutes.
