My research project is focusing on the characteristics of lysosomes originating from different positions inside the cell. Especially in lysosomal storage diseases, there is an enormous complexity with regard to lysosomal positioning. We will employ the use of specific suicide inhibitors to generate lysosomal storage disease models and we will induce cellular stress to manipulate lysosomal positioning. Additionally, we will isolate these lysosomes and meticulously characterize them in order to increase insight into lysosomal function and lysosomal composition in different cellular locations.
