Tetraspanins are highly conserved among all multicellular eukaryotes and interact with other membrane proteins assembling them into so-called tetraspanin enriched microdomains (TEMs). By organizing the cell membrane, tetraspanins have a strong impact on cellular signalling. This research project focusses on understanding the structural basis of the interaction of tetraspanins with other membrane proteins. To achieve this, we focus on the interactions between specific tetraspanin-receptor pairs.
